What busy and interesting days we had at Mersin!


From 13-19 January, the school YENİŞEHİR ANADOLU İMAM HATİP LİSESİ in Mersin, Turkey hosted all project partners and organised a wide range of enriching STEAM activities.








The Turkish team welcomed the project partners, showed their school and introduced them to the learning process. Each project group briefly presented their country and school. During the days of the project, children and teachers were acquainted with the idea of STEAM, its advantages and opportunities.




Combining their knowledge and skills in Natural sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Information technology and Arts, the pupils implemented tasks based on the STEAM idea. Some of them: rescue pelicans by calculating their populations within a given area and creating pelican nests from different materials. In another project activity, students prepared greeting cards with illuminated led lamps and made an electrical circuit.






A self-made engine was constructed from a spool, washer, rubber band and paper clips. Students created a vehicle that travelled a distance of at least 3 metres. 








At a special event called “Turkish Night”, the project partners experienced the rich and multicoloured Turkish cultural heritage and traditions.





Pupils and teachers visited Tarsin City, enjoyed unique Turkish nature and architecture.
We enjoyed an open-air meal with traditional Turkish cuisine.

We improved existing knowledge and skills as well as acquired new ones. We promoted cross–cultural tolerance and developed our personal and social skills.

This was also a priceless experience for teachers in acquiring and learning new and interesting teaching methods, gaining inspiration and ideas for improving their own learning process. Together with exhilaration, positive emotions and energy, the lessons learnt from the project will be taken and implemented in the national schools of project partners.
