From 22 to 28 September, partners of the Erasmus + project “We Are Creating STEAM Embassies in the European School
Network” visited Gheorghe Magheru school, in Caracal City, Romania.
The theme of this mobility was ecology and environmental issues.
The first day of mobility started with ice-breaking activities, then we
were introduced to the school and visited the classrooms. All the children and
teachers were very kind and welcoming.
In the evening, we met at the opening ceremony at the National Theatre.
The national anthems of the project’s countries were recorded and short videos
of partner schools were presented. The ceremony was crowned with a wonderful
cultural programme of national Romanian music and dance.
On Tuesday, students went to a paper-recycling workshop to make new
paper out of waste paper, to learn about printing history, and to test their
printing skills with ancient printing machines. We also visited the Museum of
Handicrafts. The day was continued with sports activities and we tried the zip–line
in a scenic place.
On Wednesday, pupils planted trees on the land of Romania. We also made
and decorated candleholders from recycled materials.
The evening ended with a cultural event with songs, dances, games,
smiles, energy and delicious Romanian food. We were pleasantly surprised by the
Romanian hospitality and rich cultural heritage.
On
Thursday, we visited the Science Museum and participated in biology workshops
on biodiversity and natural habitats for animals. We also saw the majestic
Carpathian mountains in Transylvania.
On Friday, we created a dream country model and presented it to other
partners. The day was followed by a ceremony of awarding certificates.
This is the fourth mobility in the project.
In March 2020, the project
partners will be welcomed at Smiltene Secondary School, Latvia, which will
focus on mathematics.
